How it compares
At 20 by 44 feet, a pickleball court is about a third the size of a tennis court and shares the same footprint as a doubles badminton court. Because it's so compact, cities often line several pickleball courts over a single tennis court — which is exactly how many of Toronto's free public courts are set up. New to the rules? Court size, answered
How big is a pickleball court?
A pickleball court is 20 feet wide and 44 feet long — the same size for both singles and doubles. That's roughly a third the playing area of a tennis court, and the same footprint as a doubles badminton court.
How tall is a pickleball net?
A pickleball net is 36 inches tall at the sidelines and 34 inches tall in the centre, so it dips slightly in the middle.
How big is the kitchen in pickleball?
The non-volley zone, or 'kitchen,' extends 7 feet from the net on each side and spans the full 20-foot width of the court. You can't volley the ball while standing in it.
Can you fit a pickleball court on a tennis court?
Yes. A tennis court is large enough to fit a pickleball court (and often more than one), which is why many cities — including Toronto — line pickleball courts over existing tennis courts.
